Some portrait assignments begin with a person, but the real challenge lies in finding the image that captures something beyond appearance. Photographing Cynthia Odier for Kappa Magazine, in collaboration with editor Margarita Pournara, was an opportunity to explore portraiture as a meeting point between personality, presence and visual storytelling.
Every editorial portrait calls for a different approach. My aim is always to create photographs that balancing the visual language of the publication with the individuality of the person in front of the camera.
Working on this assignment for Kappa Magazine, published by Kathimerini, offered another opportunity to explore the subtle relationship between character and image. Through observation, conversation and attention to detail, the goal was to create portraits that feel authentic while maintaining a refined editorial aesthetic.
What makes corporate portrait photography so rewarding is the ability to translate an individual’s character and professional identity into images that feel genuine, confident, and visually compelling.

Flux Laboratory itself became an essential part of the narrative. Conceived as a space for artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary exchange, it brings together movement, contemporary art and new forms of creative collaboration. Rather than treating the environment as a simple backdrop, I wanted the portraits of Cynthia Odier to reflect her vision and the cultural spirit of the institution. The architecture, the atmosphere and the interplay of light and space became integral elements of the visual story, connecting her personal presence with the creative world she has helped shape.

Bringing architecture, dance and photography together created a visual dialogue between different art forms, shaping a unified photography story.
Collaborating with Margarita Pournara and the editorial team is an essential part of this process. A strong editorial photograph does not exist in isolation; it becomes part of a wider narrative, complementing the written story and offering the reader another way to connect with its subject.
For me, portrait photography is ultimately about looking beyond the obvious. It is about finding the balance between direction and spontaneity, allowing a person’s character to emerge through gesture, expression and light.
I am pleased to share this latest portrait assignment for Kappa Magazine.
